Three steps, about a minute
Step 1
Read each of the six questions and answer for how your business runs on a normal busy week.
Step 2
Click Yes or No on every question. Each No is flagged as a lead leak.
Step 3
Check your lead-capture score out of 100, then read the fix listed under each leak.
How the lead capture audit works
The finder asks six yes or no questions, each covering a point where a ready-to-buy customer can drop out: whether every call gets answered, evenings and weekends included; whether each main service has its own page; whether your site loads fast on a phone and has a tap-to-call button; whether you ask every customer for a Google review; whether web forms get a reply within 5 minutes; and whether you follow up with past customers by email. Each No counts as a leak, and your answers produce a lead-capture score from 0 to 100. For every leak, the results show the fix and link to the matching service. It is a quick self-assessment based on your answers, not a technical test of your website or phone lines, so answer for a typical week rather than your best day.
| Drips per minute | 30 |
|---|---|
| Leaking faucets | 1 |
| Water + sewer cost per 1,000 gal | $12 |
| Gallons wasted per day | 2.9 |
|---|---|
| Gallons wasted per year | 1,041 |
| Cost per year | $12.50 |
Uses the USGS estimate of about 15,140 drips per gallon. Great content to share with customers who put off repairs.
Using the numbers like a pro: tips for local service businesses
Test your own lead path once a month. Call your number after hours, fill in your web form from a phone and time how long the reply takes.
Give every main service its own page with the service name in the title, real job photos and a clear call to action. One generic services page cannot match every search.
Put one named person in charge of web form replies during business hours, with a backup. A five-minute reply target only works when somebody owns it.
Want us to do this for you?
The usual reaction to a slow month is to buy more leads. Plug the leaks first, because each fix makes every future marketing dollar go further. Start with the leak closest to the money, usually missed calls or slow form replies, then work down the list. Each fix links to the service that covers it, if you would rather hand the work to us.

Lead Capture Audit: Lead Leak Finder questions
Why am I not getting leads from my website?
Common causes are slow pages on mobile, no visible phone number or tap-to-call button, one generic page for every service and no reason to get in touch now. Check that form submissions actually reach someone who replies. Then look at traffic in Google Analytics 4: if visits are low, the problem is visibility rather than the page itself.
How fast should you respond to a web lead?
As fast as you can, and this tool uses five minutes as the target. Someone who fills out a form may be contacting several companies at once, so the first useful reply has an edge. Send form notifications straight to a phone and set an automatic confirmation that tells the customer when to expect a call.
What is lead leakage?
Lead leakage is when a potential customer who already found you drops out before booking. Missed calls, unanswered forms, slow mobile pages, no follow-up on quotes and no contact with past customers are typical leaks. Fixing them raises the return on marketing you already pay for, without adding ad spend.
